What! Chandrapur Municipal corporation spends Rs 70,000 on VIP number plate for Mayor's car

Chandrapur: Chandrapur Municipal Corporation paid Rs 70,000 to the RTO to procure a special VIP number plate for a new car bought for Mayor Rakhi Kanchala.

The municipal corporation recently purchased a XL Alpha Nexa car worth Rs 11 lakh which will be used by the Mayor. Chandrapur Municipal Corporation sanctioned Rs 11,18,168 for purchase of XL Alpha Nexa vehicle on February 24.

The original price of the vehicle is Rs 10,41,131, while the corporation has spent Rs 70,000 out of Rs 11 l11,18,168 for the VIP number of HH 34 BV '1111', revealed reports.

Social activist and founder of Sanjeevani Paryavaran Samajik Sanstha Rajesh Bele has demanded thorough inquiry and action into the case.

Rajesh questioned as to why the Corporation spent this amount on a special number plate instead of resources for the on-going pandemic.

He has also demanded legal action against the concerned in a complaint sent to the Chief Minister through the District Collector.
