Western Railway Marks 79th Independence Day With Flag Hoisting At Churchgate

The 79th Independence Day of our beloved nation was commemorated at Western Railway, with the National Flag hoisted by Vivek Kumar Gupta, General Manager of Western Railway, at the Western Railway Headquarters in Churchgate. On this glorious occasion, he inspected the ceremonial parade of RPF. Gupta addressed the gathering by extending his greetings of this solemn occasion to the Railwaymen and their families.

At the start of the function, GM Vivek Kumar Gupta was welcomed by Ajoy Sadany, IG-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner of Western Railway. Neeta Gupta, President of Western Railway’s Women Welfare Organization (WRWWO), Pradeep Kumar, Additional General Manager of Western Railway, Principal Heads of Departments alongwith other senior railway officers were also present.

According to Vineet Abhishek - Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, in his Independence Day Message, General Manager Gupta briefed the gathering about the achievements & milestones accomplished by Western Railway recently. He stated that while we pay befitting tributes and homage to the unwavering valour and sacrifice of our freedom fighters, martyrs and all the heroes of the freedom struggle movement, we must continue to draw inspiration from their valiant spirit and channel our efforts to serve and build a better future for our country.

Gupta while concluding his address, motivated the staff to continue with the hardwork and appealed everyone to dedicate their efforts in the service of the nation and its citizens. He mentioned that with the collective efforts, Western Railway will march ahead on the path of continuous progress and play an important role in taking Indian Railways as well as India to greater heights.

Vineet further stated that on this auspicious occasion, Neeta Gupta - President of Western Railway Women's Welfare Organization (WRWWO) donated utility items like Water Purifiers and Water Kettles to Jagjivan Ram Hospital which was handed to Dr. Konda Anuradha, Principal Chief Medical Director of Western Railway. This was followed by a cultural programme of musical and dance performances on patriotic songs in the lawns of Western Railway Headquarters.

Thereafter, GM Gupta visited Western Railway’s Jagjivan Ram Hospital at Mumbai Central and inaugurated the renovated wards and the Audiometry Room. Gupta also inaugurated the newly Constructed Fire Escape Ramp. The inauguration was done in the presence of Dr. Konda Anuradha, Principal Chief Medical Director of Western Railway, Dr. Mamta Sharma, Medical Director of Jagjivan Ram Hospital, other senior railway officials and JRH doctors and staff.
