A quarrel broke out inside a suburban local train on Tuesday where three passengers entered into a scuffle allegedly over a mobile phone game and the fight’s video went viral. However, if the quarrel is an indication, the fear which lingered in the minds of people about Covid and it's spread through touching an unknown person or object seems to have vanished and Mumbai’s life seems to be on a return to normal pre-Covid times.

For the record, the Western Railway recorded the passenger footfall of over 28 lakh and the Central Railway surpassed over 35 lakh on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, after getting information about this quarrel through fellow commuters, Borivali GRP immediately attended the train and deboarded all three passengers – two brothers and a co passenger - at Dahisar station. During preliminary investigation, all three told the GRP personnel, "It was not a big issue. We have compromised and we don’t want to file a complaint." Due to lack of a formal complaint, the GRP allowed them to go home.

Confirming the development, a senior officer of GRP told FPJ on Wednesday,"When we came to know the real fact about the quarrel through video, we registered a suo moto FIR against all three and also called them for further investigations. Two brothers allegedly bashed up a man following an argument with him over playing the game of Ludo.”

The incident occurred in a Churchgate-bound local train around 11.30 am on Tuesday, he said.

"One passenger was playing Ludo game on a mobile phone. During the game, one of them nudged another player with his elbow, which triggered an argument between them. The two brothers then started bashing up the fellow passenger," the official of Borivali GRP said.

Someone from the compartment shot a video of the incident and circulated it on social media. After that GRP registered an FIR against all three.

During the probe, Borivali police found that all three passengers involved in the incident are residents of Nalasopara and Bhayandar areas. "They were travelling from Bhayandar to Churchgate," he said .The Borivali GRP has established their identity and an FIR under section 160 (punishment for committing affray) has been registered against them, the official said, adding that no arrest has been made so far in this connection.
