Mumbai: In a disturbing case, a 17-year-old girl from Virar was allegedly raped by two men under the pretext of performing an exorcism ritual. The police arrested the accused on Saturday.
According to the victim’s statement to the police, she met one of the accused, a 22-year-old self-proclaimed godman named Prem Patil, several months ago at a temple. He befriended her and claimed he practised witchcraft, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Prem allegedly told her that an evil spirit possessed her and that the only way to expel it was to engage in a physical relationship with him. On July 30, Prem Patil and his friend Karan Patil took the girl to a lodge near Rajodi Beach in Virar, where they allegedly raped her multiple times. After leaving the lodge, the girl disclosed the incident to a friend, who urged her to report it to the police.
According to the report, the Virar Police registered an FIR on Friday against both Prem and Karan under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice, Other Inhuman and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.
40-Year-Old Man Arrested For Raping & Impregnating Minor Sister-In-Law
A 40-year-old man has been arrested by Bandra Police for allegedly raping and impregnating his wife’s minor sister. His wife has also been taken into custody for attempting to conceal the crime and for assisting in the minor's delivery at home. The case came to light after the girl was admitted to the hospital.
According to the police, the teenage girl had been living with her elder sister and brother-in-law in the same house. In her official statement, the minor alleged that her brother-in-law had raped her multiple times between March 2024 and July 2025. When she informed her elder sister about the pregnancy, she informed about the incident to her elder sister and pregnancy, she allegedly threatened her and did not allow her to seek help, as reported by The Indian Express.
