Mumbai: A 19-year-old engineering student, arrested in connection with the August 18 hitand-run incident in Vile Parle West involving a minor, was produced before a magistrate on Sunday and subsequently released on a bail bond of ₹5,000.
Juhu police said the accused possessed a valid driving licence. His arrest stemmed from allegations that he fled after the collision without offering assistance to 15-year-old Samika Kaur Ghai.
During questioning, the student cited a blind spot caused by a passing auto as a contributing factor. He also told police that he remained at the spot for around 10 minutes before leaving out of fear.
