Mumbai:  A 16-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself at her Goregaon (east) residence on Monday afternoon. The Vanrai police are investigating as to what made the teenager take the fatal step.

The police did not find any suicide note from near the body. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Hasina Shaikh who lived in Squatters’ Colony in Goregaon (east) at Goregaon-Mulund Link Road with her grandmother. Shaikh hung herself from the ceiling fan using a dupatta at around 4 pm, the police said. Shaikh was rushed to Bhagwati hospital, however, the doctors declared her dead on arrival. The neighbours, in their statement to the police, said that Shaikh was known for her bad temper and would lose her cool over petty issues. —(FPJ TEAM)
