Thane: The fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim's jailed brother Iqbal Kaskar was admitted to the government-run JJ Hospital in Byculla on Saturday after he complained of chest pain, informed jail superintendent Harshad Ahirrao from Thane Central Jail on Sunday.

Speaking with FPJ correspondent, Harshad Ahirrao said, "We have sent Iqbal Kaskar for a routine check-up at JJ Hospital in Byculla. He complained of chest pain and so he has been admitted. Instead of taking him everytime for treatment from Thane to Byculla, we thought of admitting him and bringing him back after he's fully treated."

Ahirrao added, "We are also waiting for his medical report and will take further steps accordingly."

In February 2022, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Kaskar in a money laundering case.

The ED had taken Kaskar in custody from Taloja Jail where he was lodged in connection with multiple extortion cases registered against him. Later Kaskar was lodged in Thane Central Jail.
