Mumbai: Mumbai Airport has issued an advisory for travellers amid a strike by Uber and Ola operators in the state. Today is the second day of this ongoing protest; transportation options to and from Mumbai Airport may be disrupted today.
Passengers are encouraged to check the availability of transport services beforehand and make alternate travel arrangements if necessary. The airport has advised travellers to plan their journeys carefully to avoid inconvenience.
They also thanked passengers for their understanding and cooperation during this period. The advisory was shared on July 16 via the airport’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Commuters in Mumbai have been facing disruptions for the second consecutive day as a significant number of Ola and Uber drivers continue their strike. The protest that began on July 15, 2025, has extended into its second day.
On that day, thousands of auto-rickshaw drivers, cab operators, and gig workers from across Maharashtra gathered at Azad Maidan in Mumbai to protest what they call the transport department’s failure to take action. They are demanding stronger protections and regulations for platform-based workers.
A key issue in the protest is the call for government responsibility in regulating app-based transport companies like Ola, Uber, and Rapido. According to a recent letter from the transport department, these companies continue to operate vehicles illegally, including bike taxis and buses, even though suspension orders are in place.
While transport officials maintain that Rapido’s bike taxi services have been stopped, app activity and screenshots indicate that the services are still operational, including near the state ministry headquarters. Protesters accuse the platforms of facing no penalties despite repeated violations, such as surge pricing, exploitation, and failure to comply with Indian transport regulations.
The protesting workers have also criticised the central transport ministry for permitting app platforms to charge double fares, arguing that this policy protects illegal operators and ignores the welfare of commuters and drivers alike.
