Mumbai: Transgenders from Jogata, Durbal Ghatak Akhadi, Kinnar and Devdasi communities assembled at the Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Ghatkopar (E) to set off on their first-ever pre-poll rally in Mumbai on Saturday evening.  There were around 100 transgenders who turned up to campaign for transgender candidate Jatin Maharaj, who is contesting the Lok Sabha poll as an Independent from the Mumbai North East constituency. The other Independent transgender candidate, Sneha Kale, standing from Mumbai North Central, was also present at the rally to show support.

At the rally, pamphlets with information about the candidate, were handed out. The candidates made door-to-door stops in their individual constituencies, requesting support. “We want people to give us at least one chance, so that we can show them what we can do. Our fight is for the common people and not just for our community,” said Maharaj.
