New Delhi: Top film stars are expected to join environment and I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday when he plants a sapling in the premises of the Films Division in Mumbai. This is to carry forward the drive to spread awarness about environment protection through the newly launched #SelfiewithSappling campaign, an environment ministry spokesman said.

He said Javadekar will also take a tour of the National Museum of Indian Cinema inaugurated by PM Modi in January and interact with the top stars from the film industry to spread the message of sustainability, importance of reduction of carbon footprint and significance of environment protection for future generations.

On the occasion of World Environment Day on Wednesday, Javadekar planted a sapling in the premises of Paryavaran Bhawan here where his ministry is located. He was joined by ace cricketer Kapil dev, renowned actors Jackie Shroff and Randeep Hooda and famous folk singer Malini Awasthi. - From Our Bureau
