Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has clarified that a final decision on the implementation of the three-language formula in Maharashtra will be made only after comprehensive consultations with all stakeholders, including writers, language experts, and political leaders.

A high-level meeting on the matter was held late Monday evening at the Chief Minister’s official residence, Varsha. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, School Education Minister Dada Bhuse, Minister of State for Education Dr. Pankaj Bhoir, and senior officials from the state education department.

During the meeting, it was decided to first study the status of the three-language policy in various states and prepare a detailed presentation outlining all possible options. Special emphasis will be placed on ensuring that Marathi-speaking students do not face academic disadvantages, especially in relation to the Academic Bank of Credit provisions under the new National Education Policy (NEP).

CM Fadnavis stressed the importance of involving experts from different fields before reaching a final decision. "Consultations will be held with scholars of the Marathi language, literary personalities, and political leaders to ensure that the decision is in the best interest of all students in Maharashtra," he said.

Following the meeting, School Education Minister Dada Bhuse has been tasked with initiating the stakeholder consultation process.
