Mumbai Crime Branch and Worli Police have confirmed that the threatening message sent to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ office originated from a Pakistani mobile number. The sender did not use any VPN, allowing investigators to track the source directly.

The threat message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp number last Wednesday afternoon. The sender, identifying himself as Malik Shahbaz Humayun Raja Dev, warned of an impending attack on the CM’s office.

The message claimed that the attacker would disguise their religious identity before carrying out the assault. Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch are working to trace the sender, but three days later, no breakthrough has been made.

Following the threat, security at CM Fadnavis’ office has been increased. Worli Police and the Crime Branch are actively tracking the Pakistani number and investigating the motive behind the message. Authorities are also probing whether this threat is linked to any terrorist organization or a lone-wolf attack plan.

Last week, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also received a bomb threat. The threat email was sent to multiple official accounts, including those of the CMO, Mantralaya, and several police stations. Two suspects from Buldhana were arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with the case.

On August 20, 2022, a threatening message from a Pakistani number was sent to Mumbai Police, warning of a 26/11-style attack. Three years ago, the Mumbai Traffic Police received a similar WhatsApp threat from Pakistan. Mumbai Police remain on high alert, and the investigation into the latest threat is ongoing.
