Thane: A truck driver and his cleaner died after their vehicle lost control and crashed into a divider and an electric pole on the Patlipada bridge along Ghodbunder Road late Monday night. The deceased have been identified as Vinod (52) and Rahim Pathan (25), both residents of Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, the truck was carrying eight tons of iron pipes and was en route to Gujarat from Navi Mumbai. As the vehicle approached Patlipada bridge, the driver reportedly lost control, causing the truck to veer into a streetlight pole in the middle of the road.
Emergency Response Deployed with Hydra Cranes and Rescue Teams
The impact left both men severely trapped inside the vehicle. Emergency teams from the police and the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation were dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving the alert.
“We received the information around 12:35 AM on Tuesday,” said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the RDMC. “Our team reached the spot with two hydra cranes, a pick-up van, a fire engine, and a rescue vehicle.”
Both Victims Declared Dead After Rescue from Mangled Cabin
Rescue officials worked in coordination with the police and fire department to extricate the victims from the mangled cabin. An ambulance was called, but both men were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Iron Pipes Scattered, Oil Spill Cleaned by RDMC After Crash
The collision also scattered iron pipes across the road. Cleanup efforts, which included the use of hydraulic machinery, took nearly three hours. The truck was also removed using hydraulic machinery.
RDMC personnel cleaned up an oil spill caused by the accident, while traffic on both sides of the road remained closed during the operation. Normal vehicular movement was restored after three hours.
