Thane: The RPI(Ektawadi) political outfit have written a letter to the education authorities in Thane district to take action against two illegal schools at Diva in Thane district of Maharashtra. They gave also threatened to protest if the action will not be initiated by the education authorities.

Rajabhau Chavan, district president of RPI (Ektawadi) informed, "English medium schools have been started at Diva in rented rooms without any government approval. Students are also admitted in these schools. Our demand is that the students who have been admitted to these schools should be accommodated elsewhere as there is no possibility of them being admitted elsewhere in the future."

Chavan added, "We gave letter to the education authorities in this regard and demanded action but even after 10 days no action has been taken and the reason we have threatened to protest. Under the Right to Education Act (RTI) it is illegal to start any type of educational institution without the approval of the government or local self-government bodies. Despite this, Holy Angel English School and S.S Memorial English School at Sabegaon in Diva (East) which are illegal schools have been operating since June 2022 academic year. To start this school, the education mafia has rented 2 to 4 illegally constructed rooms. At present about 300 students are studying in these two schools. As these schools are illegal, the future of the students studying in these schools is likely to be in jeopardy. Therefore, these schools should be closed immediately. It is a punishable offense under section 18 and section 18 (5) of the Right to Education Act to start and maintain a school illegally in such a manner."

Chavan said that our demand is also that a case should be filed against these schools under Section 420 for cheating parents.
