A 45-year-old man died during treatment after jumping from the fourth floor of AIMS Hospital in Dombivli, reportedly due to frustration over personal and domestic issues.

The deceased, identified as Rohit Katke, had been visiting the hospital where his mother is undergoing treatment for cancer. The incident occurred on Thursday evening, and Katke succumbed to his injuries around 1:30 a.m. on Friday.

According to police, Katke appeared to be in an inebriated state when he unlocked a window and stepped onto a fourth-floor balcony, where he stood for nearly an hour. Despite repeated pleas from hospital staff to come back inside, he did not respond.

“Preliminary investigation suggests he took this drastic step due to ongoing domestic disputes. His wife had left him two years ago, and he was living with his mother and brother,” said Senior Police Inspector Sandeepan Shinde of the Manpada Police Station.

Hospital staff alerted local police and fire brigade and reportedly tried to prevent the incident by placing a mattress on the ground below. He suffered serious internal injuries. However, their efforts were unsuccessful.
