Thane News: Man Booked For Reckless Driving And Abusing 31-Year-Old Doctor After Car Collision At Meenatai Thackeray Chowk

Thane: The Rabodi police booked a man who allegedly recklessly drove a car and hit a 31-year-old man's car, resulting in damage to the car and the abuse of the man on Tuesday evening.

The incident took place in Meenatai Thackeray Chowk in Thane on May 3 at 6:30 PM when the complainant was identified as Vishal Acharya, a doctor by profession who was in his car along with his sister and heading home after getting food items.

The accused, identified as Mahesh Wagh, was in an inebriated state, driving his car recklessly and hit Acharya's car from the opposite direction, resulting in damage to some parts of the car's bonnet. Following this, Wagh allegedly started a heated argument with him and his sister. Subsequently, during the escalation, Wagh allegedly abused them, as per FIR.

As per the FIR, Acharya stated that Wagh allegedly tried to run his car into them. Later, a locals gathered around the car. Acharya took his car and parked it nearby, then went to the nearest police chowki and alerted the police. The police then rushed to the spot, took him aside, and filed an FIR against him.

An FIR has been filed under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 115(2) (causing voluntarily hurt), 352 (intentionally insulting someone with the intent to provoke a breach of peace), and 324(4) (mischief causing loss or damage) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The FPJ tried to contact Senior Police Inspector Hemant Patil, who did not respond despite repeated attempts.
