Thane: A significant road cave-in at the Majiwada Junction, one of Thane's most critical traffic hubs, led to widespread logistical chaos on Wednesday. The incident, which occurred late Tuesday night on the route leading toward Vrindavan Society, resulted in massive congestion affecting thousands of commuters.
The collapse forced the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) to barricade the affected section for emergency repairs, effectively choking traffic flow from Ghodbunder Road, Kolshet, and Vasant Vihar toward Thane Station and Court Naka.

Utility Infrastructure: Major water pipelines belonging to the BMC and STEM Authority run beneath this stretch. Authorities are investigating whether a pipeline leak triggered the subsidence.
Ongoing Construction: Recent excavation for the Saket-Kopri-Anand Nagar elevated project had already narrowed the carriageway, exacerbating the bottleneck.
This marks the second such incident in the Majiwada vicinity within a month, raising serious concerns regarding the quality of urban infrastructure and road maintenance.
