The Khadakpada police have arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly possessing a country-made revolver and seized two police uniforms during a search conducted at his residence. The accused has been identified as Sunny Kumar Pal, alias Chavan (19), a resident of Milind Nagar in Kalyan West.

According to the police, the Thane Police have launched a special drive to curb illegal activities, including the possession of unlicensed firearms, narcotics, and drugs in the city.

Acting on a tip-off that a man would arrive in the Gauripada area with a country-made revolver on July 3, a police team laid a trap at the location. The team became suspicious of Chavan, who was seen roaming in the area. He was intercepted and questioned, during which the police discovered the revolver in his possession and took him to the police station.

A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of two police uniforms.

An FIR has been registered against him under the Arms Act and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. ACP Kalyanji Ghete of the Kalyan Division said the preliminary investigation suggests the police uniforms were used for making a reel video. However, further investigation is underway.
