Thane: The Narpoli police booked a director and a proprietor of the firm for allegedly selling duplicate medicine in several places. The police said that they seized medicine worth Rs 1.85 crore.
The accused have been identified as Mihir Trivedi, a director, and Vijay Chaudhary, a proprietor. The drug inspector stated that approximately seven cases have been registered against Trivedi and Chaudhary across the state.
Rajesh Bankar, Drug Inspector, said, "We have initiated a medicine inspection drive across the city. We visited the accused's company for the inspection of the medicine four months ago. We took eleven medicine samples for the laboratory examination of its ingredients. During the medicine report, it was indicated that it was a duplicate and there were issues with the medicine contents. We have seized medicines worth Rs 1.52 crore and prohibited medicines worth Rs 32 lakh for sell."
A case was filed by Rakesh Bankar, the drug inspector. The incident took place within the Narpoli police station in Bhiwandi between August 8, 2024, and December 12, 2024.A case was lodged under sections 318(4), 276, 277, 278, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyiya Sanhita and relevant sections of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

The police said that they were probing the case where the medicine has been manufactured, where it obtained the raw materials and packaging materials and sold the medicine. During the preliminary investigation, it was learned that they were selling it for profit. This act is against humanity and harms the health of humans.
