Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation has initiated a recruitment drive to fill 1773 vacant posts in various departments, including administrative, accounting, technical, fire, education, public health, medical, and paramedical services. Applications are being accepted online from August 12 to September 2.

Thane Municipal Corporation currently employs a total of 9,088 staff members including those from the education board and transport service, alongside 2,500 contractual workers. The population served by the Corporation has increased from about 18.41 lakh in the 2011 census to over 26 lakh due to significant urban expansion, including areas like Ghodbunder, which is seen as the new Thane.

Despite the urban growth, the number of municipal officers and employees has not kept pace, creating an increased workload on existing staff. In response, the state government approved an increase of 880 additional positions, although this recruitment had been delayed. The vacancies have been aggravated by the retirement of numerous employees, leading to intensified pressure on the remaining workforce. To alleviate this, the municipal administration has decided to proceed with filling the existing vacancies, particularly in the Public Works, Fire, and Health departments, under the direction of Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao.

An examination fee of Rs. 1000 is required for candidates in the Amgas category, while candidates from backward classes and orphans will pay Rs. 900. Ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen are exempt from the fee. Applications for multiple posts require separate submissions and payment of examination fees for each.

The examination fee is non-refundable, and candidates must cover any additional bank charges incurred while making the online payment. If the recruitment process is postponed or canceled, applicants will not receive a refund of the examination fee. Candidates can pay the prescribed fee online until September 2, 2025, and online admit cards will be available seven days before the examination, detailing the date, time, and center.

Further information regarding the recruitment process will be continuously updated on the official Thane Municipal Corporation website. The site provides comprehensive details about the vacancies, including category-specific posts, pay scales, age limits, selection methods, educational qualifications, and guidelines for applying.

For inquiries, a helpline number is available during office hours from Monday to Friday, and an email address is provided for communication regarding advertisement-related matters. Additionally, there is a dedicated technical helpline for assistance with application issues, examination fees, and admit cards.

The positions available include various roles such as Assistant License Inspector, Clerk, Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Fire Station Officers, Nurses, Dieticians, and various technicians including Blood Bank and E.C.G. Technicians, as well as roles related to public health and education.
