Thane: Manpada police arrested a person who took to robbery after loss in business

A resident of Kamathipura in Mumbai started house breaking thefts after suffering loss in gold distilling business

Thane: The Manpada police officials succeded in arresting a 38-year-old man a resident of Kamathipura in Mumbai who allegedly took to house breaking thefts after losses in gold distilling business.

Manpada police officials said, "We received a complaint from Amit Ashok Jhope a resident of Tilaknagar in Dombivali about theft of 100 tolas gold in his house when he was out for the family function in Pune. We registered a case against unknown person under Indian Penal Code sections 454,457 and 380 and started the investigation."

Sachin Gunjal, deputy commissioner of police speaking with the reporters at Press Conference on Friday said, "Soon after registering the case of theft of 100 tolas gold in Tilaknagar area of Dombivali our team started checking the CCTV footage and also through inputs from technical team and sources succeded in arresting Abhijit Alok Rai (36) a resident of Kamathipura in Mumbai.

"After interrogation we came to know from accused that he was involved in at least 13 house breaking thefts in Mumbai, Mira-Bhayander and Vasai areas. Recently he started targeting Thane area's. His arrest solved a case involving of 100 tolas ( a total is around 11.7 grams) of gold besides silver from a home in Tilaknagar in Dombivali. "

Gunjal further added, "Our team have recovered 712 grams of gold ornaments and 257.89 grams of silver ornaments all worth Rs 35 lakh from him. Earlier the accused used to run gold distilling business but after loss in it he started house breaking thefts."

The Manpada Police have also arrested two more thefts for at least 10 cases of house breaking in Dombivali area.

The arrested accused has been identified as Imran Khan (25) a resident of Mangaon in Dombivali and Riyaz Khan (36) a resident of Dongri Pada in Bhiwandi.

The police have recovered motor-cycle, two mobile phone, copper polycab wire and other things amounting to Rs 5 lakh from them.
