Thane: Juvenile Detained For Raping And Abetting Suicide Of A Minor Girl

The victim told her mother about her pregnancy and her husband, on February 7.

The Kasarwadavli police on Wednesday detained a 17-year-old boy for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl and abetting the suicide of the victim in Thane. 

The police said that the juvenile boy and the victim had a romantic relationship for the last six to seven months. In April 2024, boy eloped with the victim, and later she returned home. He again eloped with the victim, and they got married in June 2024, living with him at her residence. The police stated that their married life was happily ongoing.

The victim told her mother about her pregnancy and her husband, on February 7. However, he refused to take responsibility for the unborn children and later gave her a pill and left the home.

The pregnant woman allegedly died by suicide. She hung herself at home.

Vijay Shirsat, Police Inspector from Kasarwadavli police station said, "We have detained a juvenile on Wednesday, produced him in the Juvenile Justice Board in Bhiwandi, and he was sent to an observation home."
