Thane: A suicide by an 18-year-old girl in Kalyan (East) on Sunday, due to continuous threatening and torture by eight accused including one girl, has caused a stir in Kalyan (East) area. Seven young men had been sexually abusing the victim for the last one and a half years with the help of one girl who used to be a friend of the victim. They used to blackmail her saying that they will make her video go viral on social media. Kolsewadi police in Kalyan in Thane district arrested 8 youth including a girl on Wednesday, June 15 in this connection and further probing the case.

Speaking with FPJ correspondent, Bashir Shaikh, senior police inspector of Kolsewadi Police Station, Kalyan, said, "Victim befriended a young man on Instagram and this friendship turned fatal for her. On Sunday, June 12, we registered a suicide case in Kalyan (East). The whole case came to light after two days after the incident when we got the mobile of the deceased. The investigation started when we searched a girl's mobile and found a suicide note on it. Reading the content of the suicide note on mobile we were shocked. The girl blamed eight people for her death. The accused had been raping the deceased for the last one and a half years by threatening to release her pornographic video on social media. We arrested eight people, a girl and seven men, on the basis of a suicide note. The accused girl was helping these seven young men to commit this crime."

Shaikh further informed, "The victim had recently passed her 12th standard examination and she achieved a 71 percent. The Seven young men live in the same area where the deceased lived. They used to come to the terrace of the building where the deceased stayed and call her with the help of one accused girl who was a friend with the victim. On the day of the suicide too they came on the terrace but the victim did not go on the terrace and she jumped from the third floor. All the accused are from well-to-do families and they were not having any criminal records against them."

The accused have been identified as Pramey Tiwari, Vijay Yadav, Sunny Pandey, Shivam Pandey, Anand Dubey, Nikhil Mishra, Krishna Jaiswal and Kajal Jaiswal both are brother and sister.

The deceased's father, mother and maternal uncle are saying that they want justice and all the accused should be given the death penalty for abetting the suicide.

The family of the victim are alleging that a few of the accused are the children of a reputed builder in Kalyan and they are being pressured to take the case back or their life will be in danger.

Bashir Shaikh further added, "We have registered a case on all eight accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 34 (Act done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of all, each of such persons is liable for that act in the same manner if it were done by him alone), 306 ( Abetment of suicide - If any person commits suicide, whoever abets the commission of such suicide shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years and shall also liable to fine) 354 (Assualt or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and also POCSO Act.
