Thane: In an unfortunate incident, a 45-year-old biker was killed after getting hit by an unidentified vehicle at the Manpada bridge, Ghodbunder Road in Thane West on Monday. The driver of the vehicle is absconding after the accident, police said.
Avinash Sawant, chief of regional disaster management cell (RDMC), Thane said, "We received a call at around 6:35 am about the accident. Our team along with Kapurbawdi police personnel reached the spot and found Kamlesh Premnath Vishwakarma (45) dead at the accident spot."
According to Kapurbawdi police officials, Vishwakarma was working at Life Insurance Corporation of India office at Fort in Mumbai and he was staying with his family at Manpada in Thane.
Uttam Sonawane, senior police inspector of Kapurbawdi police station said, "Vishwakarma was on his way for some work near Rai Master Compound at Ghodbunder Road in Thane when his Activa was hit by an unidentified vehicle at around 6:35 am. He lost his life on the spot. He sustained major injuries on his head, leg and hand. The passers-by took him to the Thane civil hospital where he was declared dead before admission."
Sonawane further added, "We are checking the CCTV footage along the highway. We will be sending the vehicle details to the RTO to trace the owner of the vehicle and through him we can get to the driver."
