Thane: The 16-feet long security wall of Anil Bhagat Chawl at Dattawadi in Mumbra (West) fell down on Monday, July 4 at around 5:32 pm. No casualty has been reported. The wall fell down due to heavy rain, said officials from regional disaster management cell (RDMC).
Avinash Sawant, RDMC chief, Thane said, "On Monday at around 5:32 pm we received a complaint in the disaster management room regarding 16-feet long wall of Anil Bhagat Chawl in Dattawadi at Mumbra had fallen and rest of the wall is in a dangerous condition. Soon after receiving the complaint, ward officers and staff of the Mumbra ward committee, team of disaster management cell went at the spot with one pick-up vehicle and started the rescue operation. No one was killed or injured in the incident."
Sawant further added, "There were a total of 19 rooms in Anil Bhagat Chawl out of which two rooms were empty and residents were residing in 17 rooms. All the 19 rooms in this place have been emptied and sealed by Mumbra ward committee encroachment department and temporary accommodation has been provided for the residents of the chawl in School No. 77 near Mumbra Station of Thane Municipal Corporation."
