Mumbai: Senior IAS officer Swadheen Kshatriya on Thursday assumed charge as the new Chief Secretary of Maharashtra. He succeeds J S Saharia, a 1978 batch IAS officer, who was appointed in November last year. Kshatriya, an IAS officer of 1980 batch, will have a considerable innings as Chief Secretary of Maharashtra as he is scheduled to retire in January 2017. Kshatriya, 57, who was additional chief secretary, has handled several important departments and has varied field postings in the state. -PTI
