Mumbai: In the Sheena Bora murder case, the former senior police inspector of Khar police station has not confirmed the allegations of defence lawyers that key accused Indrani Mukerjea’s driver Shyamwar Rai, an accused turned witness, was detained a few days before he was officially arrested on August 21, 2015.
About The Case
As per the prosecution’s case, Rai was arrested for possession of a pistol illegally. It was further claimed that during interrogation, he revealed that Sheena was murdered in 2012. It was based on the said revelation that the murder case was registered.

However, the defence had claimed that Rai was actually picked up on August 19, 2018 and detained illegally at an unknown location before he was booked in the case of illegal possession of firearms.
However, Rai too had denied that he was detained from August 19, 2015. Defence lawyer Ranjeet Sangle, who represents Indrani, on Monday grilled former senior police inspector of Khar police station, Dattatray Bhargude, on Rai’s detention and arrest apart from various other questions, including the role of senior IPS officials in interrogation of Indrani after the case was registered.
