Police Book Youths For Lewd Acts On NMMT Bus In Navi Mumbai After Viral Video Sparks Outrage

Navi Mumbai: Kamothe police has registered a case against a boy and girl after a video went viral in which they were caught indulging in sexual act in a Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) bus. The incident of public indecency came to light on Friday evening when the video clip showing two unidentified individuals engaging in obscene behavior aboard in the bus went viral.

According to official reports, the incident occurred around 5.45 pm on a Panvel to IGPL Company (Taloja MIDC) route bus, bearing registration number MH 43 H 5332. The conductor, Jalindar Jadhav, who was on duty at the time, reported that the bus had halted at the Kalamboli Circle traffic signal when the event took place.

"An unidentified young woman, approximately 19 years of age, and a young man, around 20 years old, were seen sitting on a seat inside the bus. They allegedly partially undressed and performed lewd acts in full view of the public. The video is suspected to have been captured by another bus commuter that was passing by," senior police inspector Vimal Bidave from Kamothe police station said.

Based on the contents of the video and the complaint filed by the bus conductor, a criminal case has been registered against the unidentified individuals under section 296 of BNS for indulging in obscene act in public area along with sections of Maharashtra Police Act.

"We are investigating and trying to trace the accused in this case," Bidave added.
