Mumbai: A newly inaugurated bridge in Dombivli, near Mumbai, is drawing sharp criticism after shocking visuals surfaced online showing the poor condition of the road just a day after its opening. According to the post shared on the social media platform X, the bridge was constructed over Rs 20 crore, is already being called a "pathetic failure" by angry citizens on social media.

A viral video posted by X user @IndianGems_ captured widespread attention as it showed broken patches, potholes, and uneven surfaces on the freshly opened bridge.

The caption read: "See the pathetic condition of ₹20 Crore Palava Bridge near Mumbai inaugurated just a day ago. Yes, a day ago. India is the most corrupt nation in the world."

The footage, which has since been widely shared and commented on, shows vehicles navigating a severely damaged section of the bridge. Cracks and potholes appear prominently in the clip, sparking outrage among netizens who questioned the quality of construction.

In a separate news story, a video highlighting the poor condition of a road near Kasarvadavli, opposite Horizon School in Thane, has gone viral on social media. The clip was shared on Monday by a social activist using the handle @QueenofThane on platform X (formerly Twitter).

In the post, the user criticised the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), stating sarcastically, "@TMCaTweetAway has invented Paper Roads." The comment refers to the road surface appearing so fragile that it resembles paper, easily torn and damaged. The user expressed frustration over taxpayers' money being wasted and accused the authorities of corruption.

The video shows broken parts of the road near a pothole. Pieces of the road look like thin sheets, which shows the bad quality of construction. The user also wrote, "This technology shouldn't go anywhere outside India," pointing to poor standards.

The Thane Municipal Corporation replied, "Your concern has been noted. Further action will be taken." The video has started a new discussion about poor road maintenance in Thane.
