The Panvel Taluka police station held a meeting with the representatives of the Muslim community and appealed to them to follow the guidelines laid down by the state government to celebrate the festival.
A joint meeting of representatives of mosque and madrasa was held at Barapada and Vavanje in connection with the upcoming Bakrid festival under the guidance of Ravindra Daundkar, senior police inspector from Panvel Taluka police station.
At the meeting, Daundkar said that because of the high COVID-19 cases, prayers are not allowed in public places or on terraces. He also asked that the sacrifice rituals are not allowed in public places and there should be strict adherence to the guidelines of the Government of Maharashtra regarding the festival.
The community representatives were suggested to celebrate the Holy festival simply and avoid large gatherings. They were also asked to create awareness in the community.
