Panvel: On the occasion of the 169th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, all municipal schools under the Panvel Municipal Corporation organized special Children’s Assemblies on Wednesday.
Students speak on Tilak’s legacy in school-level elocution contests
As part of the celebration, elocution competitions were held at the school level, allowing students to speak on the life, contributions, and ideals of Lokmanya Tilak. The day began with floral tributes offered to Tilak’s portrait across all schools, followed by student speeches that reflected his role in India’s freedom movement and his legacy as a social reformer.

Programme fosters leadership and creativity among students
Teachers also participated by narrating stories and highlighting Tilak’s dedication to education, nationalism, and public service. The programme aimed to inspire students and foster public speaking skills while deepening their understanding of historical figures who shaped the nation.
The corporation stated that such initiatives not only honour national icons but also help nurture creativity and leadership among students.
