The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a successful mock drill on Wednesday at its headquarters to test emergency response protocols and raise awareness about fire safety among staff. The drill was organized by the Fire Department as part of ongoing efforts to enhance disaster preparedness.

At 4:00 PM, a siren signaled the start of the drill, and a fire engine arrived promptly at the main entrance of the PMC building. Announcements were made simulating a fire emergency, instructing all personnel to evacuate immediately. The building was swiftly cleared, and all employees gathered at a designated safe zone outside.

Following the evacuation, the Fire Department provided detailed guidance on safety measures to be followed during disasters. Officials explained what steps should be taken during emergencies, where to go, and how to remain calm and safe. A live demonstration was also conducted on how to operate a small fire extinguisher, commonly referred to as a “bottle extinguisher.”

Senior officials present included Additional Commissioner Ganesh Shete, Transport Manager Kailas Gawde, Dr. Vaibhav Vidhate, Swaroop Kharge, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Mangesh Gawde, Accounts Officer Sangram Vhorkate, City Engineer Sanjay Katekar, Dr. Bhagwan Gite, and Dr. Madhulika Lad, along with various PMC officers and staff.

The mock drill reinforced the importance of preparedness and quick response in emergency situations, and was part of PMC’s broader commitment to employee safety and civic disaster management readiness.
