Panvel: Minor boy held for multiple vehicle thefts; police recover automobiles worth Rs 21 lakh

Panvel City police arrested a 17-year-old minor boy, and claimed to have solved several vehicle theft cases and recovered automobiles worth Rs 21 lakh. Police said that the minor boy used to target motorbikes and autorickshaws.

On June 2, during patrolling, the Panvel City police caught him when he was driving a stolen autorickshaw near Panvel bus depot.

According to police, a theft case of an autorickshaw was registered at Panvel City police station under section 379 and the CR number was 134/2021.

Upon interrogation, he admitted to have involved in several theft cases in Panvel, APMC, Koparkhairane and Kharghar areas. Panvel City police claimed that at least four theft cases registered in Panvel, APMC, Kharghar, and Koparkhairane have been solved with his arrested.

Police recovered three autorickshaws and one motorbike. “The total worth of possession is around Rs 21 lakh. We expect more recovery as he was involved in other theft crimes also”, said an official from Panvel city police.
