Navi Mumbai: The Medical Health Department of the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has undertaken a special fortnightly diarrhea campaign to prevent communicable diseases during the monsoon.
The campaign was launched on July 1, 2022 in the schools under Civic Primary Health Centre number 1 to 6. The campaign was inaugurated by the corporators of the area.
Corporator Sarika Bhagat and Dr. Anand Gosavi kicked off the campaign in the presence of Rehana Mujawar and Dr. Manisha Chandak at a school in Khanda Colony.
While talking to the media, PMC health officer Dr. Rehana Mujawar said, “From July 1 to July 15, a special diarrhea control campaign is being carried out in the PMC area. During the campaign, ORS packets and zinc tablets are being distributed to the children below the age of five years.”
As part of the campaign, Asha volunteers, Anganwadi Sevikas and health workers are visiting the children in the age group of 0 to 5 years in the municipal area and carrying out a door-to-door survey from house to house.
During the home visit, children in the age group of 0 to 5 years are surveyed, ORS packets are given to each household, and zinc tablets will be given to the children suffering from diarrhea according to their age.
Demonstrations of maintaining cleanliness and washing hands are also done by Asha volunteers and health workers.
