Panvel: Empty school van catches fire after refilling CNG near pump

The Kandpile Brother CNG pump is located in Panvel Industrial Estate, and the school van caught fire under a flyover at around 3 pm.

A school van with no students on board caught fire after five minutes after it was refilled with CNG gas near a CNG pump in Panvel on Tuesday afternoon. Fortunately, no one was reported injured.

The exact cause of the fire is not known.

As per the Panvel fire station, the empty school van was caught on fire soon after it was refilled CNG at the Kandpile Brother pump.

“The vehicle was seen in fire hardly at a walking distance from pump,” said an official from the fire station. He added that local people tried to douse the fire and later called the fire brigade.

The Kandpile Brother CNG pump is located in Panvel Industrial Estate, and the school van caught fire under a flyover at around 3 pm.

The fire caused severe damage to the vehicle.
