The Central Government has appreciated the Panvel Municipal Corporation for achieving 100% of its target in establishing Urban Ayushman Health Centers under the National Urban Health Mission.

The Panvel Municipal Corporation was sanctioned to have nine Urban Ayushman Health Centers. "All nine centers have been successfully operationalized, achieving 100% of the set target. Completing this target before the stipulated period of the 15th Finance Commission is an outstanding and commendable achievement, as highlighted in the Central Government’s appreciation letter," informed an official.

In an official letter by Amgothu Shri Ranga Nayak, Commissioner of the National Health Mission, the corporation was appreciated for its efforts.

The National Urban Health Mission aims to strengthen primary healthcare institutions in densely populated residential societies and slum-like areas that lack adequate healthcare services. "The mission focuses on continuous, high-quality healthcare services, disease surveillance, and control while ensuring accessible and affordable global-standard healthcare," said an official.

Under the 15th Finance Commission, a total of 2,232 Urban Ayushman Health Centers have been approved nationwide at the state level.

The civic body faced many challenges while setting up the centers. "The obstacles faced included site selection and manpower recruitment, among others. Yet, the corporation has successfully overcome all obstacles to achieve its 100% goal. This accomplishment reflects the corporation’s positive approach toward public health," said the official.

The Central Government has recognized the efforts of all officers and staff, appreciating their dedication. The letter also acknowledges the challenges of establishing new healthcare facilities in urban areas and commends the corporation for setting a strong example in overcoming these difficulties.
