Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced stringent action against Pakistani nationals overstaying in the state following the cancellation of their visas by the Union Government. The move comes in the wake of a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that claimed 26 lives, including six from Maharashtra.

Speaking to the media, CM Fadnavis confirmed that the Union Home Ministry has revoked the visas of all Pakistani tourists in India and instructed them to leave the country within 48 hours.

"In accordance with the Centre's directive, we have prepared a list of all Pakistani tourists currently in Maharashtra. Their movements are being closely monitored, and all police stations have been alerted to ensure compliance in their respective jurisdictions," he said. "Pakistani citizens must leave the state within 48 hours or face legal action." Fadanis added.

Fadnavis made it clear that there would be no leniency, even for Pakistani actors or cricket players. “We have no sympathy for Pakistani actors and cricketers,” he stated.

The Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong stance following the terror incident, asserting, “The Prime Minister does what he says. After the attack, he made a firm statement reflecting the country’s resolve to act decisively.”

The BJP leader also criticized the Shiv Sena (UBT) for not participating in the all-party meeting convened by the Union Government to discuss the April 22 tragedy. “In matters of national interest, politics should take a back seat. Unfortunately, some in the Shiv Sena (UBT) have forgotten this principle and are making irresponsible statements,” he said.

When asked about the controversial remarks made by Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske—who commented that those airlifted after the attack had never flown in their lives—Fadnavis labeled the statement as inappropriate.
