Now, mango tourism to promote Konkan!

Tourists will be able to enjoy specialties of Konkan such as cashew, jackfruit and blue berries

Mumbai : How about a four-day tour of Konkan with two days at a mango farmer’s house in the hills and the other two at a beach?

This is what the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is offering in Kokan Alphonso Tourism Festival from April 11 to June 9. “This will give mango growers an interactive platform to present the ‘king of fruits’,” said Jagdish Patil, MD of MTDC, which has been weaving festivals around the marvels of Maharashtra.

Tourists will be able to enjoy specialties of Kokan such as cashew, jackfruit and blue berries. The stay arrangements for the tourists would be made at the residences of the farmers. One tourist family will be accommodated in a farmer family each. The tourists would be able to enjoy inimitable hospitality within a village. During this festival, the tourists will stay for two days at houses in the lap of the Sahyadri and for another two days at a fantastic and enchanting sea shore. This is a concept called Uttung Kokan to Athang Sagar.

Sanjay Yadav Rao, founder and chairman of the Konkan Bhoomi Pratishthan, said, “We will conduct four tours for this festival from Thursdays to Sundays. ” He is expecting a minimum of 5,000 tourists.
