Nightlife Shouldn’t Be Elite Centric, Says BJP While Cong MLA Taunts Failure Of Sena Sponsored ‘Shiv Vada-Pav’ Scheme
Mumbai : A day after Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had given his nod for revival of the ‘vibrant’ Mumbai nightlife, the city BJP unit chief came up with a suggestion that the plan should not be elite-centric, while, MLA Nitesh Rane has taunted the initiative citing the failure of Sena sponsored ‘Shiv Vada-Pav’ scheme.
“Elite parties should not be the reason to promote the nightlife. What is important is finding ways to improve living conditions of the common man,” MLA Ashish Shelar who is the city BJP unit chief, said. Stating it was a ‘great idea to have a vibrant night life,’ he said adding that, “Vada-pav, pav-bhaji vendors should remain open. It will bring relief to the hard life of these vendors.”
Meanwhile, in a strong condemnation of Shiv Sena touting for the Mumbai nightlife, Congress MLA Nitesh Rane presented a letter to the Mumbai Mayor, questioning the legal status of ‘Shiv Vada-Pav’ stalls. “These stalls were supposed to be one of the solutions to employability of the ‘Marathi Manus’ in Mumbai. But, now the owners of these stalls are disillusioned and are worried about their legal statuses,” he said in the letter.
Rane also took a dig at the decisions regarding Mumbai nightlife saying that, “I hope now that the Sena and the BJP have taken decision over the nightlife in Mumbai, they would also have some time to look at the plights of the Shiv Vada-Pav stall holders.”
“Necessary laws would be amended so that the financial capital can have a nightlife by the end of the year,” Aditya Thackeray had said earlier.
