A 25-year-old man died after he was hit by a truck near APMC market in Vashi on Wednesday. morning. The youth was crossing the road when he came under an overspeeding truck and received severe injuries.
The deceased identified as Jigar Narayan Bhanusali was crossing the road near Annapurna Chowk around 9 am. Police said that he was middle of the road when a speedy truck that was passing that area, hit him. He came directly under a tyre of the truck and crushed his body.
“Bhanusali suffered severe injuries in the accident and died on the spot. We identified him from the identity card we recovered from his pocket. He worked at a private company in the wholesale market complex,” said an official from APMC police station.
The body of Bhanushali was sent to the NMMC hospital in Vashi for postmortem, and later handed it over to his family.
The truck driver identified as Ramdhiraj Yadav did not flee from the accident site and surrendered to police. He was arrested under sections 304a, 279, and 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 184 of the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act.
