In a major crackdown on illegal immigration, Uran Police arrested seven Bangladeshi nationals who had been residing in India illegally for several years. The arrests took place on Monday afternoon at a construction site in Dronagiri. Investigations revealed that the accused had forged Indian identification documents, including Aadhaar and PAN cards.

The action comes as part of Navi Mumbai Police's intensified efforts to identify and detain illegal immigrants. Uran Police had received a tip-off about Bangladeshi nationals working and living at the Gami Construction site in Dronagiri. Acting on this information, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Misal raided the location and conducted identity checks.

During the operation, police found that seven laborers were Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India through illegal routes and had been working at various locations for the past 7-8 years. Further interrogation revealed that they had obtained fake Indian identity documents to avoid detection.

“We have the fraudulent Aadhaar and PAN cards and have initiated legal proceedings against the accused. We would be now conducting checks at construction sites in the area,” said an officer from Uran police station.
