For the first time, residents of Uran will have the opportunity to raise their grievances and concerns directly with the authorities. In line with the promises made during his election campaign, the newly elected MLA, Mahesh Baldi, is organizing a public assembly for Uran Taluka. The gathering is scheduled to take place on February 28 at the JNPT multipurpose hall from 11 a.m. onwards.

This marks the first instance of such an event being held in Uran, following a similar gathering conducted earlier in Panvel. According to an official from the MLA's office, the initiative aims to provide a common platform for authorities and residents to engage in discussions. In the presence of the MLA, residents will be able to seek responses from officials regarding their concerns. " The panchayat samiti has been informed about the event and concerned officials too have been notified of being present at the gathering. Residents can ask questions directly to the official," said the official.

Several issues affecting Uran are expected to be raised by residents, primarily those related to poor infrastructure, environmental degradation, and various illegal activities that authorities are alleged to have ignored. Advocate Nutan Patil highlighted concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of roads, long-standing neglect in repairs, severe dust pollution, and unchecked encroachments by container yards. It was emphasized that the MLA must ensure that the concerns raised by residents receive due attention." such a gathering was needed but how much of it will be effective will have to wait and watch," said the advocate.

Other civic issues, including water scarcity, the need for a well-equipped hospital, traffic congestion, increasing accidents, and electricity problems, are also expected to be discussed in the assembly.
