The Navi Mumbai traffic police launched a drive targeting major traffic violations, including seatbelt and helmet non-compliance, drunk driving, lane indiscipline, and the illegal use of black films on vehicle windows, on Thursday. The special operation was conducted from 11 am to 2 pm in Navi Mumbai.

During the drive, officials recorded 554 cases of seatbelt violations, 759 instances of helmet non-compliance, 34 cases of drunk driving, 78 lane discipline violations, and 19 cases involving unauthorised black films on vehicle windows. Police authorities stressed that these violations contribute significantly to road accidents and have pledged strict enforcement measures against repeat offenders.

The Navi Mumbai Police have issued a public advisory urging motorists to comply with traffic rules for their own safety and the safety of others. The department emphasised the importance of adhering to traffic regulations not only to avoid fines but also to reduce accidents and ensure orderly road usage.

“As part of the initiative, traffic police staff were deployed at strategic locations across Navi Mumbai, conducting checks and educating drivers about road safety. Similar surprise drives will be organized in the near future to uphold traffic discipline and enhance road safety,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) Tirupati Kakade, said.
