With the implementation of the fare revision for taxi and autorickshaw, Navi Mumbai regional transport Office, has commenced with the calibration process of the meters.

From February 1 onwards, as per the state transport commissioners office directives, the new motor fares for taxis and auto rickshaws were implemented. Accordingly, under the revised fare structure, the minimum to be paid is now Rs 26 as against Rs 23.

In adherence to the orders, the calibration of meters of Rickshaws commenced from February 15. “ Meters of over 700 odd rickshaws has been calibrated and in days the numbers will increase," said an official from the RTO.

There are over 37,000 rickshaws in Navi Mumbai, operating both on meter fare and shared routes. “ The process is underway and before the given deadline the work will be completed. The delay is due to the time taken by the companies that have to update the software of the digital meters. The number of manual metered taxis are way too less,”said the deputy RTO Gajanan Gawande.

The recalibration process is stated to be completed by April 30
