Panvel Municipal corporation (PMC) is conducting awareness drives about environmental conservation and protection at secondary and higher secondary schools..
Under the Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 5.0, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been implementing the "Environmental Service Scheme. As part of this program, a meeting was recently organized at Gokhale School.
"The scheme has been launched to educate students about environmental issues and encourage active participation in conservation efforts. It focuses on the five key elements of nature – Sky, Water, Air, Land, and Fir," said an official.

The initiative is stated to ensure that students not only learn about environmental conservation theoretically but also engage in practical activities. Accordingly the corporation organised poster making competition along with the meeting. STudents were asked to express their thoughts on the environment using their creativity.
"Students created posters on various environmental topics, showcasing their understanding of the importance of ecological balance, pollution control, waste management, and conservation efforts," said the official.
During the event, teachers, students, and environmental coordinators discussed key environmental challenges and practical ways to contribute to a greener and cleaner planet.

The meeting and competition were supported by Gokhale School’s Headmaster Naresh Maniram Patil and Environmental Service Scheme Coordinator Gauri Shinde,
PMC has announced that similar events will be conducted in other schools and colleges across the city to further promote environmental awareness and encourage students to take an active role in conservation efforts.
The winners of the poster competition were: First Prize – Aditya Shamarav Shahu, Second Prize – Tanuja Ramesh Zhibre and Third Prize – Pallavi Dnyaneshwar Pawar.
