With temperatures soaring each day, Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has urged citizens to take necessary precautions to safeguard their health during the intense summer season.

"The heat intensity has been increasing in recent days, and it is expected to rise further in the coming weeks. Citizens are advised to avoid stepping out in the scorching sun unless absolutely necessary, especially between 12 PM to 3 PM," stated Chitale.

PMC has issued guidelines recommending homemade cooling drinks like buttermilk, curd, lemon water, raw mango juice (panna), sugarcane juice, and mint sherbet instead of store-bought cold drinks. It has also encouraged the consumption of water-rich fruits such as watermelon and seasonal produce to stay hydrated.

Dr. Anand Gosavi, Chief Medical Officer of PMC, advised that citizens should always carry a water bottle, avoid leaving home on an empty stomach, and wear light-colored, loose cotton clothing to minimize the effects of excessive sweating. Applying sunscreen, using good-quality sunglasses, and wearing hats or caps can also help prevent sun damage

Citizens are advised to monitor the food that they consume this includes avoiding junk food, non veg, food high on spicy and consuming aerated drinks as well as caffeine.  The administration has also highlighted the foods that are beneficial during summers. “Adding onion, raw mango, tomato, cucumber, coriander, and mint to daily meals helps cool the body. Neem leaves or lemon juice in bathwater can prevent skin infections. Drink at least 12-15 glasses of water daily and include lemon water, buttermilk, raw mango juice, and coconut water in the diet,” said an official.
