Navi Mumbai: NMMC to keep one centre open till 10 pm for precautionary dose of COVID-19

Citizens who return home late from their offices can visit the Vashi hospital for the precautionary dose. 1,13,037 citizens have taken the third dose or the precautionary dose.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation will keep one of its centres for precautionary doses of Covid-19 vaccination till 10 pm to complete the vaccination drive as early as possible. Citizens who return home late from their offices can visit the Vashi hospital for the precautionary dose. 1,13,037 citizens have taken the third dose or the precautionary dose.

Union Health Department, under the 'Covid-19 Vaccination Amrit Mahotsav' for a period of 75 days from July 15 to September 30, citizens above 18 years of age will be given free precautionary doses. Those who have completed 26 weeks or six months can take the precautionary dose. In the first five days, around 11,000 citizens took the precautionary dose or booster dose under the NMMC area.

The municipal commissioner Abhijit Bangar held a special meeting with the Health Department and instructed them to chalk out a plan to inoculate the maximum number of beneficiaries as soon as possible. NMMC is the first municipal corporation in the state to complete both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine for citizens above 18 years of age. He also asked officials to encourage citizens who have completed 6 months or 26 weeks to take the booster dose.

According to a senior health official of NMMC, even if Covid-19 occurs, it has been noticed that its severity is reduced due to the Covid-19 vaccination. “Keeping in mind that the Covid-19 is not yet completely over, the commissioner has directed that the precautionary dose vaccination should be accelerated by convincing the citizens of the importance of getting vaccinated,” said the official.

At present, the NMMC has made the precautionary doses available at five hospitals and 23 urban health posts. Meanwhile, the Vashi civic body will be available for vaccination till 10 pm. Other centres will operate from 9 am to 5 pm.

So far, 13,81,987 citizens have taken the first dose, 12,37,968 citizens have taken the second dose and 1,13,037 citizens have taken the third i.e. precautionary dose.
