Mumbai: NMMC officials had an insightful discussion focused on the appropriate use of Marathi in Government work. Retired Deputy Secretary of the Maharashtra Government, Mr. Vasant Chaudhary, delivered an insightful lecture on "Office Notation and Marathi Calligraphy."

The lecture on behalf of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, the Marathi Language Conservation Fortnight organized from January 14 to January 28,. Administration has charted out a series of programs highlighting the rich tradition of the Marathi language, along with several literary competitions designed to showcase the talents of municipal officers and employees.

At the lecture, participants were explained key aspects such as the structure of official files, administrative writing, notation writing, letter drafting, the six-bundle method of document organization, and record classification.

During the session, Chaudhary elaborated on different types of government correspondence and the appropriate actions required for each. He detailed the technical aspects of notation and letter writing, offering guidance on how to draft official letters effectively.

While explaining the six-bundle method for document arrangement, he emphasized the importance of categorizing records systematically under sections A, B, C, and D to ensure easy accessibility and efficient office management.

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde expressed his satisfaction with the valuable guidance provided by an experienced legal expert like Mr. Vasant Chaudhary. He stated that the training session would contribute to improving the internal office documentation and administrative procedures of the municipal corporation.

The commissioner emphasized that language plays a crucial role in daily operations and that it is a collective social responsibility to pass it on in its pure form to future generations. He urged everyone to maximize the use of Marathi in their work. Expressing pride in the classical language status granted to Marathi, he highlighted its historical significance and the prestige associated with it.
