Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carried out a demolition drive in Airoli to remove unauthorized construction after the property owner failed to act on a prior notice. The operation was conducted on the directives of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, under the supervision of Additional Commissioner (2) Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Shri Bhagwat Doiphode.

The unauthorized structure, located at F-216, Sector 3 in Airoli and belonging to Anil Popat Patil, was constructed without approval from the civic body. “We had previously issued a notice under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, directing the owner to voluntarily dismantle the illegal construction. However, after no action was taken, the encroachment department proceeded with a partial demolition on April 11,” an official from NMMC said.

The demolition team was led by Airoli Division Assistant Commissioner Sunil Kathole and Junior Engineer Sandeep Mhatre, along with supporting staff from the G Division and the municipal encroachment police squad. Equipment used for the operation included a gas cutter, two hammers, and a team of eight laborers.
