Navi Mumbai: NMMC conducts survey to check vector-borne diseases in monsoon

In order to ensure that there is no outbreak of vector-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue and other communicable diseases during monsoon, the Health Department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) started carrying out various preventive measures.

As part of this, 68,772 houses have been visited so far in June 2022, out of which 1,22,884 houses have been inspected. The survey found 496 locations contaminated. Similarly, a regular search campaign for indoor mosquito breeding grounds in all the civic primary health centres is being carried out more effectively in the current month of June and at present 81,266 homes have been visited.

Out of these, 1,48,609 houses have been inspected and 1,092 places have been found contaminated. Of these, mosquitoes found at 733 sites have been destroyed and the remaining 382 have been treated.

In addition, Malaria Awareness Camps were organized at 23 places under construction in NMMC. A total of 7,163 participants were sensitized. Leaflets were distributed and awareness on malaria and dengue is being spread through posters and distribution of booklets in public places.
